Sweet memories…
28 July 2007
I would have loved it if you could be with us in Brasov, when we performed in the
opening of Michael Bolton’s concert. It was a memorable night! We felt wonderful on
stage! The public was incredible!
Thank you Brasov! Thanks to the organizers for thing of us!
If we also had met Michael Bolton, everything would have been perfect.
I remember when, a few years ago, singing in the opening of Joan Baez, the Lady of
Folk, together with other Romanian artists, she came to meet and encourage us in the waiting room in which we were all expecting impatiently the time when the show would start. Not to mention Chick Corea, the pianist that influenced my teenage years who shook my hand in November 1998, right when he was stepping on stage…it was
incredible! These chances in life ar very rare. We were so excited that we made additional Preparations, to make sure nothing takes us by surprise.
And the show began! We performed the songs which I thought represented me most.
We gave everything we could give on stage, myself and my musicians. And I found it
amusing to see that the only remark of a journalist, after everything that took place on
stage was that I didn’t mention the song composers’ names… This time it seems I
didn’t make a mistake about matching my shoes to the color if the rug or keep my leg
in an appropriate position at the piano. This time it had to be something else. More
important than the fact that the improvisation in “Trurli” was one of the best ever.
I don’t think there is someone out there who has listened “Ploaie in Luna lui Marte
and not know it’s written by Nicu Alifantis and the lyrics belong to Nichita Stanescu.
Or that Trurli is composed by Vasile Vasilache, with N. Stroe’s lyrics. Moreover,
the public that attended the event. They were an elite…
What hurts me is that “lived” music is dying. The souls of those who want to make
this music are dying. There are so many people that don’t understand that artists
need very little to keep making music. And… a lot of people don’t understand that
they make this music for the people who need it.
Many people don’t know the difference between those who make music to be on TV
And those who appear on TV to let the world know about their music…
A subject I promise to come back to.
Outside there was a terrible heat. We were announced that Anita Doth is coming to
the rehearsal house.
We were all excited and we waited in our 25 square meters room, for the arrival of the
dance diva. Surprise: an extremely modest human being, likeable, with a great sense
of humor, with a fresh and warm attitude, she conquered all of us. We spent a very
nice afternoon, between rehearsals and discussions about the past, present and future.
We settled our outfits, our attitude on stage, etc. the conclusion we reached was that
we complete each other artistically, that we see eye to eye about music, things that
surround us, the world in general. And that we have to continue our collaboration!
The stage at Callatis is very imposing! A lot of money and energy are invested and the
Mangalia City Hall deserves congratulations for this! Too bad though, that
a lot of work put out by the artists, on stage, didn’t pass through the screen because of
… commercials! There were so many artists that couldn’t get into your homes…
What stroke me also was the way Anita had to finish her show, that was already
delayed towards midnight because other artists that extended their recitals that night.
Anita prepared a flawless recital, she sang with her heart, she tried to revive the ’90,
with their teenage flavor, with their memories. She was brutally interrupted and it was
a shame.
I was very upset…
Thanks to Dana Andronie for the pertinent remarks from “The National Journal”.
