Romania, on with the playback?
19 August 2006
Ah, I can’t believe so many days have passed and I haven’t written you anything here! I’m sorry, but as you can guess, I was very busy working on the album.
I’m finally done with mixing the song Acolo Sus and I’ve almost finished a new song which I hope to be a collaboration with one of the “inspired” and “longeval” artists from our native show business (an older acquaintance ;-)).
I remembered Callatis… have you watched it? If so, tell me… didn’t the attitude of some of the organizers towards playback bother you? I think it’s incredible that, after many years in which the artists that resorted to playback by obvious reasons were denigrated, this year, I heard several comments after the show like “it doesn’t matter if you can sing or not, what’s important is the show” or “you all want to sing live, it’s stupid, the sound can’t be perfect, it’s a lot of work! Congratulations to the artist who didn’t sing live but danced impeccably”.
Personally, I don’t know where we are headed…
At the same time we bump into the indolence of some TV show producers who tell us that we cannot perform live at their shows. It’s to big of an effort, too low the chances that all works well, we’re not taking chances…
And I ask myself, do the producers of Jay Leno’s show (that I’m watching on a regular basis) have the same attitude? Obviously not…
I was talking with someone these days, and they told me that it’s a question of preference: you’d rather lie or you’d rather tell the truth…
From what I’m concerned, the pleasure of singing is much higher than marketing related reasons, so… I think you already know my answer.
Speaking of festivals, I rehearsed with the Big Band of the Radio, conducted by Mr. Ionel Tudor for the Mamaia Festival, where I’m going to perform Trurli again. I’m invited along with other winners of the Festival and I’m very honored
