EUROVISION 2010

28 January 2010We have very good news, The songs "It's not too late" (Andrei Tudor) and "Playing with fire" (Ovi Cernauteanu) interpreting it along with Kamara, respective Ovi, both were qualified for the final of Eurovision - Romania, which will take place on March 6th in Bucharest.

The stories of the songs are completely different, like the characters and their messages: Part of Ovi's song is joyful, sensual and powerful, a "game" between two lovers who provoke each other. It is modern, simple, "in your face", easy to remember from the first listen and it makes you dance and dream..
Production was done by the great producer Simen M. Eriksrud of Norway who was "afflicted" with dozens and dozens of retakes during production, both, because of me and because of Ovi. I was amused that when I called Ovi, he was always in the studio, re-recording, even if his part already sounded perfect. When my turn came, I had to record many sessions until Simen got the result that he wanted. Even then he expressed his frustration that I could not go to Norway to record my part in his studio.
Finally, though, I won! The result is excellent, a competitive track, complete, with high production values that are modern and dynamic.

I remember that on the Golden Stag stage (when I was in the jury I noticed Ovi's talent), during the competition was the first time I spoke with Ovi, I told him how much I admired what he did on stage, how he sings, what he sings and especially that much like me: he loves the piano. Also I received Ovi's album debut, I especially enjoy listening to it in the car when I travel. Over time, the idea began to take shape that we would participate at Eurovision with a song, the idea was of Ovi's and he thought we should write the song together. He came with an idea and the track and I felt the need to not intervene in any way on the composition, I found it very complete, all he had done there, so I preferred to get involved only as an interpreter, and well I did, because this way you can remain objective and cold. It's a position that I have not tried for a long time, being the author of several of the songs I've played lately.

On the other hand, Andrew Tudor, my friend and colleague from the band, called me one day, about four or five days before the deadline for submission of songs to Eurovision and I said that he had a beautiful song for me (I confess that I had given him the idea that I was waiting for a song from him, but I was not hurrying him, I wanted it to be at the right time, effortlessly, without haste, this happened last year sooner, but the waiting was worth it). When I listened to the song it gave me goose bumps and I've cried! I was pleased that Andrei wanted to give ME this song especially when he could pick anyone else. I forgot to mention that the demo was exceptionally performed by him!

He told me, as closely as we know him and as much as we love him, he saw a film "serious" and wrote this song, grinding the residual feelings and questions that he found himself asking after he saw the movie. A song emerged that was full of feelings!
Then he thought of the idea of a collaboration with Kamara who completed this project's message very nicely and the result is an excellent track that I am convinced that you will like very much.

I've read the blog of Dana Dorian and I am glad that she was impressed by Andrei's song, I thank her for the kind words.
Thanks to Mrs. Dutescu Gabriela, "master" of my voice, the one that helps me, after so many years of career, to learn new things about vocal technique and interpretation.
Remember: The final is on March 6, live broadcast on TVR.

Your votes count! And not only votes, all the energy that you send my way!
